About the Opportunity
We are seeking an seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to handle and oversee all aspects of quality assurance from our contract manufacturing partners. This role also partners with our sales team to investigate and resolve any site service quality issues. This person will also act as a trusted advisor to our Design and Product Management teams. A critical aspect of this role is to be the Quality Champion at Taymor. This role is responsible for preventative quality management through the execution of quality audits and product testing as well as for the investigation, root cause analysis and ultimate resolution of product defects.
More specifically, some of your day-to-day responsibilities include:
Advisor / Manufacturing SME
- Work in conjunction with the Design and Product Management teams to advise on quality aspects of products under development.
- Internal Subject Matter Expert on key manufacturing processes such as die casting, polishing & plating.
- Understand, articulate, and share expertise regarding cost breakdown analysis for pricing negotiations.
Quality Assurance
- Develop, document, establish and maintain quality assurance programs, systems, policies, procedures, and controls
- Define our overall approach to production inspections, including the use of 3rd party service providers, factory self assessments and inbound inspections at Taymor DCs.
- Document and track reported quality issues (nonconformance report - NCR Log), track factory/supplier performance based on quality issues.
- Lead communications and the implementation of corrective actions related to quality issues, including factory/supplier performance report.
Site Services Support
- Define and implement an overall approach to site services at our customer locations with our sales team to understand and resolve issues that may arise due to quality, manufacturing, installation or other reasons.
- Work with sales team and customers to resolve issues, visit on site at customer locations to resolve issues, use 3rd party service providers where required.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience managing a network of international OEM and/or ODM contract manufacturing agreements, and managing Quality Systems, including initiating, leading and implementing initiatives to improve quality. Experience dealing with offshore suppliers in the smart home or digital products space would be highly desirable.
In addition, we are looking for experience in, or knowledge of :
- Common manufacturing methods for mechanical components and hardware.
- Business and cultural norms in Asia and North America.
- Strong analysis, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
- ISO9001, UL, ULC, and CSA standards.
- Risk management of potential product failures.
- Fluency (written and spoken) in Mandarin would be an asset.
